I have always loved Halloween and spent much of my childhood brainstorming about my upcoming costume. My best costume ever was "half awake/half asleep", I divided my body down the middle, one side of my face and hair was all "done" and the other had curlers and night cream and so on. It was fun to do and was the perfect creative outlet for an artsy kid. I still love Halloween and have just moved my creative energy elsewhere, you guessed it, I now spend my time planning a fun and spooky Halloween bash (and helping my kids with their costumes). This year Halloween has kind of been in all year, as skull and bones have been seen on everything from cashmere sweaters to lunch boxes, so that is the party I am throwing this year. Luckily, (and we Halloween lovers live for this), Halloween falls on a Saturday, so it's an all day affair. We are going to meet up with a few families for a day of pumpkin picking and end up at our house for a Halloween lunch. I will have decorated the table the night before with the glitter skulls, a caldron filled with orange punch and a black tablecloth. I will serve cheeseburgers, sweet potato fries, carrots and whatever else I can think of that's black and orange! The kids will then go trick or treating while we gear up for our Halloween cocktail party. This year it's a potluck and my theme will be "pick your poison" and I will ask everyone to bring something related to that concept, my friend Robyn already told me she's bringing several bags of Fritos as that's her downfall. This season at PlumParty we made personalized cups and napkins and I am going to use them at the party and serve black margaritas with black colored sugar rims. I can hardly wait, it's that old familiar feeling as when I was a kid and just could barely sleep. Some things never change.
